What is the name for the technique of adding/painting on water to lines and shading created with non-waterproof ink? - so it blurs in an exciting way!
Of course, back in the day, a lot of fountain pen & even straight nib pen would have been very "washable" - just a spot of rain.
My part in this Bonanza.
Starting with a very late night in Bromley & five of us sharing ideas in one space - in later years, this could have been described as "a" verses "b". Maybe something to do with Warhole.
We saw it as an ongoing production, pushing each other along, pushing the thing along.

Anyway ~ adding water onto a statement gave it more life and vibrant ~ majik and uplifting to a tired creative soul.
That in itself was the last comment on that surface ~ the end game as it were.
Rather like a (v) poor man's potter, putting the pot into the kiln and waiting to see what came out of it.
Who knows what the water will do to the ink ? !
Reggie Pye's Coaching Technique.
I remember Reg. Pye an art teacher at my second school showing us a process to bang out ideas without becoming too over awed by the whole thing. then bang the rough idea out on it.
~ screw up a piece of newsprint, spread it out, then bang the idea out on it.
It's surprising what can come out.
Large compositional scenes can be encompassed, down to relative close ups, say a daffodil or a face.

How I use this method Nowadays
provide ready, rudimentary Tone - to compliment the line.
And also provide not too much of a defined basis to carry on with a more "decided" statement.
It is also a very portable medium - pen, brush, paper.
~ sketch out a composition from your handbag!
~ knock out the big ideas from a moving train, to be tampered with later.
~ attempt to encapsulate a drunken revelation.
It doesn't necessarily have

The first thing he created was a huge and sturdy shield, all wonderfully crafted.
Around its outer edge, he fixed a triple rim glittering in the light,
attached to it a carrying strap.
The shield had five layers.
Jimney Catalyst,
What is the name of a Greek deity that makes you question yourself?
Dryad, Muse, Apsara.
It's not a direct question, crit or challenge, but a pointer into a direction where that possibility exists.
Graham Greene said that life was lived in the first 20 years and the remainder was just reflection. Well I'm not sure I agree with that but, although I've always been a reflector, I do find for the last few years that my reflections include not only trying to make sense of the world in general but also of my life so far…….
~~~~ do you see your blog as a reflection on (not of) your life so far?
